“Team Sandtastic” got started on their Sand-sculpture at the Manatee Public Beach today. The sand-sculpting competition or “Anna Maria Island Sandblast” will start Saturday morning with over 20 teams competing on the beach!
This year’s Anna Maria Island Sandblast is on Manatee Public beach located at the 4000 block of Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach. About 24 teams will start around 9am Saturday morning November 19th and work until 1 pm when their sand-sculptures will be judged.

The fishing off the shores of Anna Maria Island is hot right now. Local fishermen have been reporting red grouper, kingfish, Spanish mackerel, cobia, amberjack, yellowtail snappers, as well as blacktips, and bull sharks.
Offshore fisherman and fishing charter parties have been catching the limit of amberjacks, mangrove snappers, yellowtail snappers, cobia, big sharks and nice red grouper.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your fishing pole and head to the beach, the City Pier, The Rod & Reel Pier, or book an Anna Maria Island fishing charter and start reeling em in!

Free Trolley On Anna Maria Island!

Anna Maria Island Trolley is the best way to get to your favorite places on Anna Maria Island and the best part is that, it’s FREE!!! With both air conditioned and open-air seating for you to choose from you will be set up for whatever mood you are in that day. Trolley service runs from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. about every 20 minutes from the north end of Anna Maria Island at Anna Maria City Pier south to Coquina Beach.
Trolley Stops are two to four blocks apart along the route and there are three main stops: Anna Maria City Pier, Manatee Public Beach, and Coquina Beach where the trolley will wait approximately three minutes before continuing the route. The Anna Maria Island Trolley stops have a green sign with a trolley on it, and most of them have a covered seating area.
In Holmes Beach the Trolley runs north on Marina Drive and South on Gulf Drive. So depending on where you are in Holmes Beach you may have to walk a block or two. The Anna Maria Island Trolley is run by MCAT (Manatee County Area Transit) who partners with SCAT (Sarasota County Area Transit) so for $.75 you can catch the Longboat Key Trolley from Coquina Beach on Anna Maria Island to downtown Sarasota with stops on Longboat Key and St. Armand’s Circle. Daily service runs from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. every 30 minutes.

Do you love tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and nachos? If so Tortilla Bay Southwest Grille in Holmes Beach has it all for a fair price, and will defiantly satisfy your Tex-Mex craving. Tortilla Bay is located in the Island Shopping Center and is open Monday through Saturday from 11AM – 8PM.
Tortilla Bay is kind of like a fast food restaurant without the drive through. It’s a great place to grab a bite on the run or have a quick inexpensive meal. Walk up to the counter, place your order and grab a seat, the waitress will bring your food to you when it is ready. Most of our office orders lunch from Tortilla Bay for at least once a week. A big favorite is the fabulous queso dip, try some on your next visit it’s very good. Check out Tortilla Bay and have your favorite and fresh Tex-Mex meal today!
Anna Maria Island Blood Drive For Local Non-Profit Organizations

Here is your chance to help our community, and donate blood this weekend for the Island Blood Drive. The Anna Maria Island Blood Drive will be held Saturday June 4th & Sunday June 5th at St. Bernard’s Church located at 5408 Marina Drive Holmes Beach FL, 34217. The Blood Drive is from 9am – 4pm both days, and will raise money for local non-profit organizations.
A private donor will contribute $100.00 to a local non-profit organization or organizations of your choice for each person who donates a pint of blood. You can donate blood in the name of Wildlife Inc., AMI Community Center, AMI Privateers, or the AMI Rotary. From what I understand you can have the donation split among all of the local non-profit organizations if cannot choose just one.
Rotten Ralph’s on Historic Bridge Street Pier

Rotten Ralph’s Restaurant on Historic Bradenton Beach Pier is a great place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can come by land or sea to eat, drink, go fishing, and enjoy beautiful views of Sarasota Bay.
Rotten Ralph’s is a full service restaurant and offers inside and outside dinning, a floating boat dock, a bait shop, and fishing is free on the pier. If you are coming from Bradenton head west on Cortez Road to Anna Maria Island, just after crossing over the Cortez Bridge onto Anna Maria Island take a left at the light, head south for a few blocks to Bridge Street, and Rotten Ralph’s is located at the east end of Bridge Street on the Historic Bradenton Beach Pier you can’t miss it.
Spring Is Mating Season For The Gentle Manatees

Manatees are an endangered species, so please watch them from a distance. If you see a manatee while walking along the beach or swimming on Anna Maria Island, don’t be alarmed, spring is the mating season for the gentle manatees.
If you want to help, the best thing that you can do to help is keep your distance, allow the manatees plenty of room to do what they do naturally. You don’t want to put the manatees or yourself at risk, so don’t touch or push them. Just step back and enjoy, if you have a camera or video camera start filming these beautiful creatures in the warm waters of Anna Maria Island.

Spend The Day At The Beach

Anna Maria Island is a place where you can relax, or find an activity that will be perfect for you and your family. Some people will tell you that fishing on Anna Maria Island is the greatest thing in the world; others will say that spending your time on Anna Maria Island beaches swimming and soaking up the sun is all they want to do.
So grab your beach chairs, pack up a cooler and spend the day at the beach, Anna Maria Island have never been more beautiful. Pristine beaches as far as my eyes can see, and everyone is enjoying their favorite outdoor activities.
Bradenton Beach & Bike Path

Anna Maria Island is a great place to take a family walk, bike ride, or just enjoy the breath taking views of the Gulf of Mexico. Take a walk with your toes in the sand or along the paved path that spans the length of Coquina and Cortez beach. Located in Bradenton Beach Just south of Bridge Street you will find Cortez Beach, this beach offers free parking and lots of it. As you move further south into Coquina Beach you will find public restrooms, picnic tables, beach showers, and lifeguards on duty. Coquina beach also has a café that serves burgers and hot dogs right on the beach.
One of my favorite things to do is take a nice easy bike ride through Coquina Beach. I start at the south end of the island under the Long Boat Key Bridge and head north towards Cortez Beach along the paved path. Take the time enjoy island wildlife as you are greeted by squirrels, native birds, and if you are lucky you may see dolphins or manatees enjoying their Florida lifestyle.

Many local Anna Maria Island real estate companies claim to have luxury vacation rentals however we continue to find that is not the case.
Island Real Estate uses a 13 page document with 10 categories to rate each of our Anna Maria Island luxury vacation rentals. Each of the 10 categories are ranked and given a correlating number of points. We add up the points and if the property falls short of the near perfect ranking the vacation rental is NOT rated a luxury vacation rental.
All of our local Anna Maria Island competition puts a thumb to a walk through and estimate, "yah, this is nice enough to be a luxury rental." I see some claim to be an Anna Maria Island luxury vacation rental when frankly it is an average vacation rental with Island Real Estate.
Linens, televisions, internet, as well as many other amenities are required just to be considered. All of Island Real Estate Anna Maria Island vacation rentals that rate as a 5 are considered an Anna Maria luxury rental. La Casa Costiera is a spectacular condominium complex that offers several high luxury direct Gulf Front three bedrooms properties. Most of the properties accommodate six people and have at least two and a half bathrooms.
Enjoy the warmth of your own fireplace while relaxing in the beautiful living area equipped with a flat screen television and wet bar. All properties have a terrace overlooking the Gulf of Mexico with either Direct Gulf front views or partial water views overlook the gorgeous pool with spa surrounded by the garden courtyard.
The master bedrooms offer a jacuzzi with separate stand up shower that shares the extra large bath space. Most of the luxury La Casa Costiera properties offer high speed internet however check with the great folks at Island Real Estate vacation rentals for more information. Sorry, No smoking and No Pets. Pets may be considered for stays longer than 3 months or more.
